a hot, nutritious lunch with accommodations made for special health-related
dietary needs.
The Benefits of Adult Day Health
The primary goal of HFADC is to help participants:
- Socialize and make new friends
- Adapt, relearn or retain skills
- Remain physically active, regardless of mobility status
- Function at the highest level of independence possible
- Receive needed health services
- Have fun!
Adult day care can also be vital to caregivers by allowing them
time to care for their own physical, emotional and spiritual health.
A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association
found that elderly people caring for their spouses were 63% more
likely to die prematurely than those who were not caregivers. Accessing
adult day programs can help alleviate the caregiving stresses which
contribute to illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, stroke and
others. In addition, family members say they are able to provide
better care because of regular, uninterrupted, worry-free time to
themselves.
