Our Participants
Holy
Family Adult Day Centers primarily serves those over age
60, but adults of any age can attend the program if services are
ordered by a physician. There are three major groups of clients
that are served at HFADC:
- Those with Alzheimer's and other dementias.
- Those with Parkinson's disease, strokes, Multiple Sclerosis
and other physical conditions.
- Frail and/or isolated older adults in need of general health
monitoring or socialization.
New Facilities to Meet Growing Needs
It is estimated that the need for adult day centers will double
in the next few years. This is because of the growing numbers of
elderly, as well as the increasing number of caregivers who will
be employed outside the home; particularly women, who in the past
have been the primary caregivers. Increased numbers of "Baby
Boomers" are dealing with the complex issues of caring for
their aging parents, often while holding down jobs and helping to
care for children and/or grandchildren.
In order to better meet the needs of current and future participants,
a major fundraising campaign was initiated in 1998. As a result,
HFADC now has two facilities in the north
and south. These centers offer greater functionality, comfort and
program flexibility than was possible before.
